Wallcovering is STILL having a moment. Why?

Wallcovering is STILL having a moment. Why?

Wallcovering is STILL having a moment. Why?

Because there is nothing quite like it when you want to evoke emotion and express personality.

Wallpaper makes a bold statement, not just with color or pattern, but also—and this is just my opinion—because of the commitment it demands. Decorating with wallpaper means you are fully embracing your design vision in a way that paint simply can’t match. I love a daring move like that.

Here are some of the ways we set the mood:

Because I’m Happy

Clap along if you feel like even mundane tasks should be performed in a space that sparks joy. We chose Schumacher’s iconic “Chiang Mai Dragon” for this laundry room because of its vibrant palette and playful take on Art Deco-meets-Chinoiserie design. It is a mood booster for your walls, and suddenly laundry day feels a lot more fun.

Tip: Consider using bold prints in everyday spaces like utility rooms and closets to surprise and delight.

Share the Love

Designers may call it “wallcovering,” but why not bring a little love to other spaces in the home, too? In this space we wrapped the ceiling in an abstract design from Area Environments drawing the eye up and creating a design that fully envelops the room.

Tip: Try other unexpected placements for paper—like the backs of bookshelves, cabinet door panels, or even a closet interior—to add personality to a space.

In the Mood

A wallpaper’s texture can be just as important as color and pattern for setting a vibe. In this study we used Arte’s “Squared” design—a 3-D reeded pattern with depth and dimension. The effect is subtle and quietly luxurious, perfect for a space meant for focus, calm, and contemplation.

Tip: Go for texture over pattern when you want to create a calm, soothing environment

Chill Out

Wallpaper doesn’t need to wrap the room to make an impact. For this cozy reading nook, we papered only the back wall, defining the space and giving it an intimate, inviting look. It’s a subtle move that makes a big difference.

Tip: Highlight an architectural feature with paper to make it stand out. Think alcoves, stair risers, or even a column.

Afraid of Commitment

If full-fledged wallpaper fealty makes you fluish, worry no more. Peel-and-stick has come a long way! Companies like Rebel Walls and Spoonflower have a range of great design options. There is definitely a “getting to know you” phase in terms of installation, but removal is way easier than letting go of a bad relationship.

Tip: Peel-and-stick is perfect for renters or anyone who changes their mind frequently. We won’t judge.

So why wallpaper?

Because it’s fun. It’s expressive and personal. And just maybe it’s the bold design move your home has been waiting for.
