From Blah to Bold: Bathroom Fixtures Taking Center Stage

The design world is popping with color and bold silhouettes, so why are bath fixtures still so often limited to white sinks and oval tubs? Today’s bathrooms are seeing a wave of innovation, with sculptural profiles, expressive hues, and unexpected materials ready to redefine your morning ritual.

Here’s a look at some of the most compelling ideas that are turning the bathroom into a true design destination.

SHAPE: SCULPTURAL FORMS

Kast has completely reimagined the classic white sink. From carved ridges and sculptural swirls to scalloped profiles and soft pill shapes, their lavatories feel equal parts creative and whimsical. With 28 color options to choose from, Kast makes it easy to let your personality shine through.

Sherle Wagner has been creating luxury hardware since 1945, and they specialize in the art of mixing precious stone details and fine metal finishes. Their Molecule faucet—shown here in malachite and brass—channels both disco glam and Deco elegance.

If you prefer serenity over sparkle, Stone Forest’s limestone Edo vessel sink is a study in Zen restraint. Carved with origami-like folds, it evokes a sense of balance and calm.

COLOR: DON'T BE SHY

Color has turned up the temperature in bath design and Fantini’s iconic I Balocchi series is quite hot. Their playful shape (I can’t help but see balloons) and rainbow of colors to choose from make them easy to match to your tile, your towels, or even your mood.

Hastings Bath Collection’s Dot Vanity features radius edges and round pulls in multiple customizable color combos ranging from playful to sophisticated.

For years, designers have been pulling pastel toilets out of bathrooms in the name of modernization. Now, Kohler’s Heritage Collection harkens back to those vintage hues with a new perspective, offering a range of supple greens that feel both nostalgic and contemporary.

MATERIAL: TEXTURE AND TRANSPARENCY

Concrete, glass, and resin are revolutionizing the bath. Konqrit’s Bahia Chica glass fiber-reinforced concrete soaking tub sounds industrial, but the Marble Terracotta and Ivory finish radiates an almost mystical quality.

Glass countertops with integrated sinks milled from chunks of glass are the hallmarks of the vanity collection from Andrew Pearson Glass. They have an almost liquid quality that feels solid and sensual.

The ethereal design of Antonio Lupi’s Borghi tub makes it a stunning centerpiece. Made of transparent resin, it appears to float in space.

Innovation: Function Meets Imagination

Life Valet has just made grab bars a whole lot sexier. They created the Vibe series of tile-in designs, making safety both seamless and beautiful. I’m also keeping my eye out for their upcoming Silhouette series, which will introduce the first recessed grab bar that extends and locks with the touch of a button.

Shower drains aren’t what they used to be. Infinity Drain has been doing elegantly simple linear designs for some time, and now they’ve added the Disco to the collection. Its fluid shape with rounded ends harmonizes perfectly with curved tile forms.

Who knew you could reinvent the faucet handle? Watermark’s Elements series features a single hefty round form in wood, metal, and stone for a unique tactile experience.

With all of the innovation and creative ideas floating around in the bathroom space, the time has never been better to go bold and have a little fun!
