We are always on the hunt for interesting pieces that make a client’s home unique. Those pieces can come in many forms: a beautiful textile, an oil painting or a vintage find, for example.
I really love using ceramics in my projects, whether functional or decorative; they are an excellent way to add artwork to a space. The best ceramics are imbued with the feel of the artist’s hands at work. You know that each piece is one of a kind, and it is in the micro imperfections that a piece is truly special. Plus you can find wonderful ceramics at all price points.
1. Paola Paronetto
Our Santa Fe project has a wall full of display shelves, and I can’t wait to fill them with objects from Paola Paronetto’s Paper Clay series. Her saturated color palette and delicate-looking pieces come in all shapes and sizes. They are somehow surprising and make me smile.
2. Arc Ceramics
One of the most versatile vases I’ve ever owned is this little blue beauty from Arc Ceramics. You don’t have to be a florist with a vase like this — anything you cut from your garden or grab at the store looks amazing in it. They come in other colors; the black or white would be incredibly versatile. It is so sculptural that it looks great on a shelf with nothing in it at all.
3. Michele Quan
I have fallen in love with all things Michele Quan. Her ceramics are filled with rich symbolism and a touch of — as she says — rock and roll.
4. Hitomi Hosono
The delicacy of the work created by London-based, Japanese artist Hitomi Hosono is so incredibly ethereal it feels otherworldly. You can almost feel the sugary flowers and greenery growing right before your eyes. Her Instagram page is nothing short of delectable.
